REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

 

 

1.      An application is made on the prescribed forms together with a copy of the approved plan.

2.      Arrangements are to be made with the Building Inspector to enable entry to the building for site inspection.

3.      Where Applicable:

a)      A W.A.S.A completion certificate (sewered areas)

b)      A Fire Certificate

c)      Electrical Certificate

d)      Letter from Factory Inspectorate/Environmental Management Authority (E.M.A) must be obtained and submitted together with the application.

4.      The building must be constructed in full accordance with approved plans/ approved amended plans.

5.      Concrete drains and aprons must be laid around building.

6.      All plumbing fixtures and sewage disposal system must be completed.

7.      Septic tanks and soak away pit and rubble drain must be left open for inspection.

8.      All floors finishing e.g tiling of bathrooms must be completed.

9.      Ceiling and walls finishes must be completed. This includes painting.

10.  All doors, windows, must be installed.

11.  Certificate from a registered engineer re:

a)      Structure completed prior to approval of Local Authority.

b)      Retention of existing structure.

12.  Amended drawing if building is built contrary to the approved plans.

13.  All safety devices, including handrails must be installed.

14.  Any structure on the site, which has been designated for demolition, must be removed.

15. Damaged roadways to be restored to its original condition by the Owner/Agent prior to the granting of a Completion Certificate by the Local Authority.
